1. The UG Department of Visual Communication organized an Industrial Visit to the All India Radio (AIR) on 24th July 2013. Mr.C.Mahesh, Programme Executive, AIR, acquainted the students with the transmission and other set ups like Krishnaveni, Vividh Bharati, recording places and live programmes as well as other functions pertinent to the AIR.
1. The Department of Visual Communication organized a Guest Lecture on Film Photography on 30th July 2013 for the final year students of U.G. and P.G. Visual Communication Department, which was delivered by an alumnus and well known film photographer Mr.Anoop. He gave tips to the students on recent trends in photography in general and film photography in particular. The Guest Lecture was organized as an interactive event.
Facial Painting Competition:
Facial Painting: The Department of Visual Communication organized a Facial Painting Competition on the theme Anti-Alcoholism entitled All Ka Hell – Say No To Alcohol, Yes To Life on 5th July 2013 as a Campaign Strategy to create awareness about the ill effects of alcoholism. About 250 students including girls from various Colleges of the city enthusiastically participated in the competition, portraying hazardous impacts of alcoholism. Besides the officials of the College, faculty of the Department, popular TV artist Atluri Hemanth and Rev Sr.Alberta, Correspondent, Maris Stella College, Vijayawada, were present at the event. Sr.Alberta exhorted the students to uphold the spirit of service to the society.
All Ka Hell - A Campaign against Alcoholism:
The Department of Visual Communication conducted a Social Campaign entitled ‘All Ka Hell- Say No to Alcohol Yes to Life’ from July to December, 2013 in order to create awareness about the ill-effects of alcoholism among the general public of Vijayawada city, As part of the Campaign, the students organized various awareness events viz. Promotional Logo, Flash Mob, Signature Campaign, Street Plays and Marathon that successfully reached out to 10,000 odd people with its social message. The Campaign began on July 5, 2013 with Facial Painting Competition to highlight the hazardous effects of alcoholism. Students from local Colleges portrayed the horrible sights of alcoholism. Rev.Fr.Dr.G.A.P.Kishore, S.J. Principal, underlined the importance of the Campaign on anti-alcoholism. Rev.Sr.Alberta, Correspondent, Maris Stella College, encouraged the students to uphold the spirit to serve the society. On 4th December 2013, the Department organized a Flash Mob on the campus in which a good number of students made an extempore dance performance, portraying the unity of students to address the issue. The performance motivated other departmental students to fight against this social menace.
Rev.Fr.Dr.Rex Angelo, Vice-Principal (P.G.), inaugurated the Campaign Logo and lauded the Department as well the students for the innovative initiatives being undertaken to create awareness about the ill-effects of alcoholism among the people in the city.
Rev. Fr. S. Raju, Correspondent, launched the Signature Campaign by affixing his signature. He voiced concern over rampant alcoholism which is gripping the contemporary younger generations. Rev.Fr.Dr.G.A.P.Kishore, SJ, Principal, endorsed the Signature Campaign by affixing his signature.
Students also staged a Street Play, scripted and directed by themselves, that captured the general public’s attention in the thoroughfares of the city.
In a first of its kind, the students of Visual Communication Department, along with their other departmental counterparts, took part in the Marathon which started from Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation to Andhra Loyola College. On its way, the general public also joined the students and raised slogans against alcoholism.
GUEST LECTURE – 2014-2015
The UG Department of Visual Communication organized a Guest Lecture on 19th July 2014. Renowned film story writer Mr.A.Chinni Krishna delivered the Lecture on ‘The Fundamentals of Script Writing and Screenplay Techniques”. The Guest Lecture greatly inspired the students. The Lecture was followed by an interactive session between the Guest Speaker and the Students wherein the students got to learn important things about film industry. Mr.D.Praveen, Dean of Student Activities, Mr. K.V.Vijay Babu, Coordinator, Mr. Vijay Srinivasan, Head, Mr. K.S.R.K. Prasad, faculty, Department of Visual Communication, Dr.A.V.Ravi Kumar, Dept. of Physics, were present at the Guest Lecture.
Clay Model Workshop: The Department of Animation and Visual Effects organized a two-day Clay Model Workshop on 13th and 14th August 2014. Nearly 90 students participated in the workshop and prepared as many Clay Models including Robots, Buildings, Animals and Great Personalities in the two-day workshop. Sri Dassu Guru, Sculptor in Guntur Medical College, who inaugurated the workshop, said that many opportunities are there for meritorious and talented students in the market. The Clay Model Workshop will help students to hone their artistic skills, he added. Rev Fr. Dr.Rex Angelo, SJ, Vice Principal (PG) exhorted the students to make use of the workshop that serves as a platform to showcase their creative talent and to nurture their talent. Animation Department faculty Faculty Mr.Ezra Sastry and Ms.Nagarani coordinated the programme. Sri D.Praveen, Dean of Student Activities, was also present at the workshop. The Clay Models prepared as part of this workshop will be exhibited during the College Exhibition to be conducted on 1st-2nd September 2014.
Workshop on “Basic Camera Techniques”: The Department of Visual Communication organized a Student Workshop on the topic “Basic Camera Techniques” on 30th July 2014. Mr. Vinay, Technical Resource Person, NIKON, Bangalore, was the Resource Person. Students of Visual Communication Departments (UG & PG), Animation & Visual Effects courses attended the Workshop which focused on important technical aspects of photography viz. picture composition and framing. The students have been introduced to various aspects of professional photography. Faculty of both the UG and PG Visual Communication Departments including Mr. Vijay Srinivasan, Mr. Raj Kumar and Mr. K.S.R.K Prasad, Staff Coordinator, were present at the Workshop.
Painting Workshop: The Department of Visual communication & the Department of Animation, Music and Dance, jointly organized a Painting Workshop on the theme “Nayvandhra” on 23rd August 2014 in the run up to the Arts, Commerce and Science Exhibition to be held on 1st and 2nd September 2014. Mr.Mruthyunjaya Rao, H.o.D & Asst.Professor, Yogi Vemana University, Cuddapah, was the Resource Person. Students of UG & PG Visual Communication Departments participated in this workshop and produced more than 150 Art works
