An academic festival named Resonance, was organised by Andhra Loyola Physics Association –ALPHA, Vijayawda during 15-17, December 2016. In order to infuse an interest in Physics and to get updated in latest developments in Technology the theme of this academic festival was kept as ‘Internet of Things (IOT)’.Competitions such as poster presentation, model presentation and essay writing competitions were conducted on 15th December 2016 where as oral presentation, Quiz competitions and Role play were conducted on 16th and 17th December 2016.
This degree level competitions on ’Internet Of Things and its applications in Bio, Space and Medical fields” has been co-sponsored by DBT Govt of India and IAPT (India Association of Physics Teachers).
‘Full automation of every human activity is the gist of IOT (Internet Of Things). The future of IOT has many advantages like Telemedicine, Automated sensors for agriculture’ said by Dr. Manne Suneetha, HOD of IT, V.R. Siddhartha Engineering College, Vijayawada who was the chief guest, while inaugurating the three-day Resonance.
“IOT is a trending technology in present era and it is the ‘internet of internets’ which finds its needs in decision making in every industry through generating and analysing of data”. All the students must make look up for emerging fields such as IOT, and should enhance their skills. The Hon Chief Minister has promised to provide financial assistance for students to do IOT based research projects, She added.
She advised the students to critically use the technology and to avoid spending too much of time for social networking sites such as facebook and Whatsapp. She asked the students to make good use of internet for development and urged them to be globally aware, improve leadership qualities, socially responsible and rise for the occasion.
Colleges like KBN College, Maris Stella College, PB Siddhartha Boys College, Siddhartha Girls College, St.Theresa College - Eluru, APRDC College - Nagarjuna sagar have participated in these competitions.
Student coordinator Nagesh proposed a vote of thanks. Vice principal Fr. Melchior, correspondent Fr Raju, Head of the Physics Dept Dr G Murali Krishna, Staff Coordinator Dr Sathish, the staff and students of Physics Department, Were present.
